Assiut University was founded in 1957 as Upper Egypt's first university. The University Logo consists of a coat of arms with the Sun disc (Akhenaton's slogan representing Ancient Egypt) in the middle, illuminating the university's name printed in standard Kofi scripts (symbolizing the Arab era). Sunbeams in the shape of hands extend out with benevolence from the Sun, while the letters that make up the university's name tower in splendor towards the light.
The University of Assiut's Faculty of Medicine is dedicated to educating competent physicians who are capable of learning and improving our country's medical system, as well as competing in the local and regional market.
